The Foothills Parkway is a national parkway that traverses the foothills of the northern Great Smoky Mountains. This drive is a 4-hour loop from Fontana to Apple Valley Mountain Village & Cafe in Townsend, TN.

We head east from Fontana over to the legendary Cherohala Skyway, completed in the fall of 1996 after being under construction for some thirty-four years. On the return we will head down into the Tail of the Dragon, our namesake drive, to head back home.
